Monroe Airport Director Truck Pulled

A new SUV for Monroe Regional Airport Director Ron Phillips has been removed from that department’s purchase request, according to the agenda for next Tuesday’s meeting of the Monroe City Council. The revised request is for two mowing tractors only.

5 (b) Re-Consider request from the Monroe Regional Airport for Council approval to purchase two (2) New Holland, TS6.110, Cab w/AC, 4wd tractors off State Contract. The estimated cost of this purchase is $98,919.40. Funds for this purchase will be derived from the Airport Capital Account, which has a balance of $267,500.00. (Armstrong)

That item caused a bit of a stir at the 7/23/13 meeting, when Council Chair Eddie Clark wouldn’t allow its consideration until the SUV was removed from the request.

See here the agenda.

Notably missing from the agenda are any council nominations to the secretive Interstate 20 Economic Development District Board of Directors.

Several ordinances vetoed by Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo are up for a veto override, which would take four votes out of the five council members.

One ordinance vetoed by Mayo would open the I-20 Board meetings to public scrutiny, in accordance with Louisiana’s Open Meetings Law. Presumably, Mayo’s veto indicates his preference for doing the public’s business in private.

The meeting is set for Tuesday, 8/13, 6:00 PM, Monroe City Hall, 400 Lea Joyner Memorial Expressway.
