Town of Jonesboro District B alderwoman Renee Stringer has alleged that the town’s controversial mayor Leslie Thompson physically assaulted her at a concert Saturday afternoon at Veteran’s Park in Jonesboro.
Stringer filed a criminal complaint with the Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office (JPSO).
“I asked him several times to leave me alone,” said Stringer. “Thompson pushed me and said ‘that’s assault – call the cops’ before leaving the event,” she added.
Several other people witnessed the confrontation and signed statements attesting to the assault, including former alderman Randy Layfield.
We will attempt to obtain copies of the reports and statements and will publish them when we do.

Wow. He put his hands on a woman in a violent way? That is NEVER okay. IF it happened the way it’s described on here, no question criminal charges are in order.
These are the actions of a man who
A) has no emotional self control and a very short fuse
B) is letting the pressure and criticism clearly get to him
C) thinks he can get away with anything, and is above the law
D) probably all of the above
A critical unforced error by Leslie that will cost him politically. It happened at a crowded public event, with multiple witnesses. Stewart and Fannin can paper over his fiscal graft and stupidity for decades if need be, but if he starts going around attacking people like a mad dog, they can’t just make that go away.
He’s out of control. Those that have the power to end this, had better exercise it. How bad does it have to get before he becomes more trouble than he is worth to you?

Putting his hands on any woman that says not to do it or please stop touching me is wrong any day. No means no, whether some people like it or not. Maybe he will finally get the message, no is exactly what it means-no, but you can hardly blame all this on him, he has been allowed by everyone that could have stopped him to carry on with any and everything he desired. Maybe they too will finally see what they have helped create. Thank Jonothan Stewart and Fannie, see what your contributions have done for the public, now people can’t even go out in public without being attacked by your bully. Maybe your wife or daughter will get to share in something exactly like this one day and then you can be reminded of what you helped create.

It is apparent that this man is walking the razors edge. He must surely feel as if the world is against him.
Beware, when cornered, people do rash things. Assault of a woman in public is the beginning of a downward spiral. This person is not thinking, only reacting. A psychiatric evaluation is surely in order.
Perhaps in the intrest of public safety, the coroner should have him picked up and held for 72 hours to make sure he isn’t a threat to himself. He has already proven to be a menace to society.
What is next? Gun violence?

Renee Stringer can press charges.
Andy Brown can arrest.
Judge Teat can allow him to make bond.

I really hate that this online paper is nothing more than a gossip rag that puts Mayor Thompson down daily. This so called paper never has anything positive in it about the Town of Jonesboro or surrounding communities.
