AP: Belton didn’t know about Clary Video

Yesterday, The Associated Press’ Jim Mustian wrote:

Union Parish District Attorney John Belton, who is pursuing a state investigation of the troopers’ actions, told the AP he only became aware of Clary’s footage recently.

After two years, Belton didn’t know about a key piece of evidence in a case he was in charge of?

Worse than Belton’s actions/inactions, is the fact that the Louisiana State Police employs cruel vicious men with psychopathic disorders.

The D.A.’s office is not an investigatory body. They only get the materials provided to them. What’s your beef with the D.A.?

The LSP’s fault, not Belton’s. According to CNN:

And on Monday, Louisiana State Police Capt. Nick Manale said that after further review, “personnel discovered three videos utilized in the internal affairs investigation were not part of the evidence submitted to District Attorney Belton with the original case report.

“This evidence was used in the disciplinary procedures for Trooper York and previously had been submitted to federal investigators. It was again provided to federal investigators and to the District Attorney’s Office as a supplemental report.

“Internal reviews are currently ongoing to determine why those videos were not identified during the original criminal investigation.”

DA’s office did have a investigator on staff in previous years

        They still employ several.

They are for follow-up as a prosecution progresses. They can’t acquire evidence they know nothing about. Walter is blaming the D.A. for not having the last video but LSP didn’t make its existence known.

Investigators are suppose to ask question such as, how many officers were involved and if all had body cams where are the videos? Sounds like a simple thing to do unless u really don’t want to know.

    How stupid is Mr. Abbott?

My understanding is that Louisiana DA’s do not have the powers to investigate and arrest….only sworn law enforcements agencies. The DA van only prosecute upon the final submission of evidence.
