Ruston Board of Aldermen Monday

Ruston’s Board of Aldermen will meet Monday, September 9, 5:30 PM, Ruston City Hall, 401 North Trenton.

Here is the agenda.

There are a couple of notable items.

A budget amendment will be proposed for the 10/1/18-9/30/19 budget year that is about to end. That amendment will siphon $400 thousand from the general fund into the Sports Complex operating budget.

Those monies will be used to cover a $360 thousand deficit that is projected for the department this budget year.

See here the budget document.

Also, a resolution to award a Construction Manager At Risk (CMAR) contract to Lincoln Builders for Phase II of the Sports Complex.

The contract will have a “guaranteed maximum price,” but that figure is not disclosed in the resolution. The CMAR process allows awarding of certain construction contracts without bidding.

See here the proposed resolution.

Siphon? Now Walter, that doesn’t sound like very fair and balanced reporting to me, I thought you had an accounting background. Should that complex have turned a profit in the first year, when it hasn’t been open but two months? And that Ruston has fronted the costs? Isn’t the point of the sports complex to bring sales tax revenue to the city general fund? How bout do some real reporting and tell us how the city’s sales tax fund is doing…

Can’t believe you hate youth baseball so much that you let your contempt for the sports complex and that Ruston mayor show so bad….. I’m anticipating your clever reply; and your New York Times aka Ruston Daily leader comment was hilarious btw…..😎

We are all opposed to the hearty partying, rewarding our friends and punishing our enemies, and such that election winners and office holders do. Why do you hate oversight?

      • Walters second cousin twice removed Says:

Walter, oversight is a great thing but your slanted reporting shows your bias against that mayor who is obviously trying to make Ruston the best place it can be for it’s citizens. Still waiting on your sales tax fund report by the way….

Whatever I want is “For the Children” and if you oppose me , it can only be because you hate children.

    Is that you Heisenberg??

  4. Robing Hood. Says:

What the kids need are jobs not some high priced place to play.Sports complex is just a means of letting someone get rich on the taxpayers dime. Stop this spending now and start teaching our kids how to work and not how to steal.

  5. Walters second cousin twice removed Says:

“For the children”…..Walter Walter Walter, your focus is only on you and the controversy you hope to stir up with your “reporting”. How bout reporting both sides of a story instead of just your side….. for the children…😂😂

    • Anonymous Says:

The two sides are 1) liberty and 2) big government. I choose liberty.

      • Walters 7th grade English teacher Says:

Walter I’m with you on big government, we don’t need it. But you incite simple minded folks on this forum when you don’t report all sides of the story. Makes me think that’s what you want…..

    • Robinhood Says:

Now you all leave Walter along, you hear. Very smart reporterknows what he’s talking about.

  6. Anonymous Says:

Sounds like a democrat resort to name calling how simple minded can you get

  7. Anonymous Says:

Remember, even simple-minded people can spot wrong-doing.
