I can tell you where to save some school money. I live in West Texas and served on the school board. over 20,000 students. all School board members served without pay. We did it for public service. There is no reason you folks should pay a person to serve on the board. Look at what you could save? If there is some law mandating pay, how about $100/year.

You’re right when you say “Milstead says cut teachers.” I was told that they’re looking to cut like 40 of us and are already out at the schools looking for who they can get rid of. There were great things in the millage (SROs, mental health etc.), but it was so bloated. It was presented like security was the main part, but it was such a small part of what they were actually trying to pass. I agree that Milstead can take a pay cut and central office is full to the brim with people with high paying “invented” positions…mostly just former principals who were removed from their schools because of performance. A few years ago it was a $500 deductible, now it’s $800 and no copays…

    AMEN for TEACHER RAISE!

and now comes the Jackson Parish School Board. just took office in Jan. and already wanting to raise their own salary $200 a month. that equals 2400 a year while its my understanding parish teachers only got a $1000 a year raise. somehow that math doesnt add up..

Motion was made by Mary Saulters, seconded by Gloria Davis and carried to adjust the Expense
Allowance for Board Members to $800.00 per month for Board Members and $900.00 per month
for Board President. As of January 14, 2019, the Expense Allowance for Board Members and
President will automatically adjust to the maximum amount of what State of Louisiana law
    mandates.

thank you for thinking of yourselves.
i hope that in the next election the voters remember you and vote you out of office.
