Ouachita Juror wants “small fee” on Sparta users

Clampit touts ‘small fee’ on water users

By Zach Parker | zach@ouachitacitizen.com

Ouachita Parish Police Jury Vice President Jack Clampit says water users in the 16 parishes that tap the Sparta Aquifer as a groundwater resource should pay a “small fee.”

The revenues from a water meter fee or pumping fee could fund any water conservation efforts undertaken by the Louisiana Sparta Ground Water Commission. Clampit is the commission’s treasurer.

“There should be a small fee to help preserve the life of the Sparta,” said Clampit, who represents the Police Jury on the Sparta commission. “The amount of that fee should be set by the Legislature, not by the Commission.”

So Clampit has outed himself as another Democrat In Conservative Clothing, or DICC for short. And a partner of Shadoin on the Sparta Shakedown. Nice job guys, we never would have suspected you two were closet authoritarians.

The local liberal totalitarian bunch controlling the Sparta Aquifer Commission just can’t help themselves! They were so close to getting their taxing authority with Shadoin slipping his bill quietly through the legislature until Walter got to reporting it and aroused the ire of north Louisiana. Now, they’re trying to tax us piecemeal one parish at a time. They’ll keep at it until we run them off and close down the trouble making Sparta Aquifer Commission.

how the heck is a small fee gonna preserve anything but someones pockets? i work with one of the sparta commission members. l asked about the HB 430 and the condition of the sparta? according to him the sparta is in better shape than it has been in years, funny there is no FEE now. l see some dirty politics coming if a FEE is imposed. start checking the pockets of our elected officials. remember to get out and vote on these greedy elected officials.

Water belongs to the land owner not the Sparta comm. We already pay a pumping fee. Enough poly-tics! Clampit Jack you blood sucker.

Cowboy can you tell us if those sparta guys are in cahoots with the ruston mayor?

      • Cowboy Says:

Ronny Walker is a politician and loves being mayor of Ruston. It wouldn’t surprise me a bit if he is, but I believe he has his own little agenda going on in Ruston. If he’s not directly involved, then he’s at least tacitly supporting them. I haven’t heard him come out and denounce Shadoin’s bill, the Ouachita fee, or the Sparta commission. All the little powers that be support each other on everything until they’re little schemes start coming off the rails. Politicians don’t make a move without sticking a wet finger in the air first.

This Sparta Commission needs to be abolished ASAP!

Well cowboy are there murmurings that we can hope to salvage the city and someone step up to run against Ronny? Many voters waiting. Where is Elmore these days?

I’m tired of taxpayers being used for bailing out bad deals, subsidizing businesses and just plain being over-taxed period.

If I’m now paying a monthly $1 safe-drinking water fee what was I drinking before?

Also ticked off about the sewer fee going up to cover the cost of renovating a local station, but that fee NEVER went back down to what it was before the hike. Based on the fee I’m paying, after renovations, it costs 4x the amount to send it out vs the amount of water coming in.
