Ruston’s Board of Aldermen will meet Monday, March 7, 5:30 PM, Ruston City Hall, 401 North Trenton.
Here is the agenda.
Several notable resolutions will be considered.
This resolution will support application for the creation of a downtown cultural district. Sales tax exemptions for “certain original works of art,” construction materials, and personal/corporate income tax credits on rehabilitation of some structures would be allowed.
The city will take possession of the federal building on the corner of Mississippi and North Vienna, to be used for educational purposes. Extensive remodeling of the structure and interior will likely be required to bring it into compliance with current building codes.
Riley Company will provide engineering services, surveying, and cost estimates to develop part of the Rock Island Railroad right-of-way into a pedestrian/bicycle trail. That railroad was abandoned and the tracks removed in the late 1970’s – early 80’s.
