Bonton Trial Date Reset

The trial of Brandon Bonton, charged as an accessory to the murder of Dr. Sue Hashway in June 2012, was moved from the previously scheduled date of 9/28/15, to 2/22/16, which will coincide with the trial date previously set for the alleged killer, Cameron Mays.

Assistant Attorney General Mike Ruddick will be handling the case going forward, it was said in Third Judicial (Lincoln, Union Parishes) District Court yesterday afternoon in Ruston.

Assistant District Attorney Laurie James said Bonton was likely to be called as a witness in the Mays trial.

Earlier yesterday, Mays was in court for a status hearing. Both he and Bonton are set to appear again for a 9:00 AM, 10/20/15 preliminary examination hearing.

Representing Bonton was public defender Scott Killen.

Presiding was Division B Judge Tommy Rogers.
