More on LPPJ Meeting

There were several other items of interest at Tuesday night’s meeting of the Lincoln Parish Police Jury (LPPJ).

The Solid Waste & Recycling Committee meeting considered applications to relocate three dumpsters. One was approved (Tom Bowman), and two (Sherry Brooks, Dianne Stewart) were not approved.

Per LPPJ policy, if someone wants a dumpster relocated, the individual must recommend another suitable site for the bin, it was explained during the meeting. Brown’s application was the only one that met that requirement.

Compactor truck driver Jeff Snipe was singled out for praise by Administrator Courtney Hall for his quick thinking when the trash load on his truck caught on fire. He followed procedure, which was to get off the road, eject the load onto the ground, and call the fire department. His action saved a $190 thousand piece of equipment, Hall said.

Also, the committee saw pictures from surveillance cameras that have been installed at some of the parish’s dumpster sites.

The full jury meeting had a bit of discussion and a couple of votes on whether to grant a tax exemption to Courtesy Chevrolet, Cadillac & Pontiac of Ruston, LLC. The proposed exemption would forgo collection of the 4% state and 3/4% local sales taxes that is normally collected on the cost of construction materials.

After Committee Chair Randy Roberson (District Four) offered a motion to grant the state – but not the local – exemption, District Six’s Walter Pullen said that the project was an economic boost to the area, was a long-established local business, and should be rewarded for their efforts.

Roberson’s motion was defeated.

Earlier today, Roberson sent us a statement more fully explaining his reasons for wanting to collect the local portion of the sales tax.

See here the statement.

There was also discussion about the service fee increase at the local Office of Motor Vehicles branch, from $3 to $4.50 per transaction.

It was explained by Hall that it was not really an “increase,” as the new drivers license are issued for a term of six years, instead of the previous four years. The yearly cost was still $0.75, he said.

The motion passed with Roberson and Bobby Bennett (District Three) voting no.

I agree with Randy Roberson on the Tax issue !. I do not believe it is right that some can avoid the tax while others have to pay it. Randy is by far one of the Best we have! Thanks Randy, and Bobby for standing with him !

THATS THE POLITICS FOR YOU—-WHEN POLICE LIE AND GET PROMOTION FROM IT—-IT IS CALLED CORRUPTION—PLAIN AND SIMPLE. THEY VIOLATED CIVIL–CONSTITUTIONAL—AND HUMAN RIGHTS. THEY ARE SIMPLY DISHONORABLE AND LACK INTEGRITY AND THAT IS A FACT.

I would encourage everyone to read Randy Roberson’s statement as to why he opposed the exemption of Courtesy Chevrolet from the 3/4% local sales tax. There are far too many who incorrectly believe that government makes everything possible and are far too willing to promote this heresy in the name of liberal orthodoxy.

Government does not create anything, nor does it provide jobs or create wealth. Government skims off a portion from the productive efforts of entrepreneurs to fund its operations and provide benefits to the dependent class all too willing to take the handouts with nary a thought of contributing to the betterment of society by becoming productive themselves. It is the entrepreneur, working through the free enterprise system, which satisfies the wants and needs of consumers for a profit that is responsible for raising America’s standard of living to the highest point in world history in less than 400 years from the Pilgrims landing at Plymouth Rock in 1620 to the present. It is the rise of the dependent class which threatens to undermine all of this effort and destroy this country and the noble ideas upon which it was founded.

Once America is destroyed, we can all kiss goodbye the high standard of living to which we have all become accustomed and to which we all enjoy. Americans should think long and hard about the privations which we are risking by acceding to the forces of evil lurking in the political correctness movements that threaten our free speech, the intolerant forces of the homosexual movement which threaten our freedom of religion (yes, that’s freedom of religion in the Constitution, not Obama’s false “freedom of worship” attempt to redefine the Constitution), and the evil forces of government totalitarianism inherent in President Obama’s abuses of the Constitution.

Recall any ice storm through which you have lived and remember the hardships imposed upon you by the loss of electricity, the loss of transportation over icy roads, the inability to cook food, warm your house, take a hot bath, or the immobility that prevented you from traveling to a more hospitable place. THOSE are just a few of the things we risk as a people by allowing the forces of evil masquerading as “progressives” to destroy America and the free enterprise system. The rich have the means to travel elsewhere when America is destroyed, but the vast majority of us allowing the “progressives” free rein lack that ability and will be forced to live with the mess they have created.

The “progressives” have convinced a sizable portion of Americans that it is intolerable for us to judge their foolishness for what it is and reject it. The intolerably ostracize anyone who dares point out their failures and the unworkability of their foolish redistributionist schemes which take from the productive that which was earned by the sweat of their brow and give it to those completely uninterested in doing for themselves all for the sake of amassing power to further their redistributionist schemes. They have convinced Americans that it is wrong to push back and demand enforcement of laws, respect for the Constitution, and upholding of the morality of God’s law. They push the false doctrine of secular humanity which undermines the Judeo-Christian foundation upon which the Founding Fathers built America and under which it has thrived as a country and a beacon of peace and prosperity around the globe.

For far too long, our “progressive” masters have dumbed down our education systems to create a compliant populace ignorant of reality to the point where their evil schemes can not only exist, but actually be demanded by an ignorant populace. It is inherent upon us as citizens to protect our precious freedom by becoming learned men cognizant of the evil in which we are immersed and the protections embedded in law which separate us from that evil. We must recognize the evil intentions of our leaders ad resist their attempts to enslave us with their totalitarian schemes. We must judge their evil for what it is, expose it publicly, and demand its rejection, all without the forces of political correctness browbeating us to remain silent and complicit in its acceptance.

Exemption of a local sales tax for the ostensible benefit of a local business might seem like a small thing, but remember that the forces of evil and the “progressive” movement all operate in incremental degrees while promoting the fiction that each incremental step is “reasonable and necessary” and ridiculing the slippery slope argument put forth by conservatives that neatly explains their creeping incrementalism.
