4 Responses to “Jackson Parish Police Jury Monday”
On May 2 voters of Jackson parish voted to renew tax on roads and waste management. On May 4 the finance committee of the police jury voted to ask the jury to vote a pay raise of $2/hr for all hourly employees of road, waste management, and maintenance. This is a cost of $34,000 to road personnel, $39,600 to solid waste and $5200 to maintenance personnel for a total of $78,800 for the remainder of the year. I did not vote for pay raises. Maybe we did not need tax. Let your alderman know you are against this raise. Attend police jury meeting Monday May 11 at 5:30.
as a civil servant a $2/hr raise is a LARGE one time raise. Until last October I have not had a raise in 6 1/2 years and then we only reveived a 4% raise which amounted to less than $1/hr for most, if not all, of the hourly workers. Ms Vines which you had noted how long it is has been since their last pay raise
