Arrests Made in Jackson Parish Hospital Case

From KTVE-TV10

The Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed to KTVE/KARD four people including a former Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Deputy were arrested Monday as a result of a State Police investigation of the Jackson Parish Hospital.

Late last year, investigators assigned to the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations received information from the Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office regarding possible criminal activity taking place at the Jackson Parish Hospital. An investigation was initiated and a search warrant was served at the hospital.

The investigation revealed evidence of payroll fraud, theft, illegal distribution of drugs and criminal conspiracy.

This investigation culminated in the arrest of four Jonesboro residents arrested Monday.

    Names? What charges?

  2. Anonymous Says:

why was Cody allowed to retire? so we the tax payers will be paying for this crook to sit in prison

    • AB Says:

I have no information other than what I have read, but my understanding is that he retired before he was charged with anything. You cannot take someone’s retirement that they earned away from them. He is not charged with stealing anything.

    • AB Says:

I read that it all started with an undercover investigation of a sexual harrassment charge between employees, but no names were ever mentioned and there were no charges. What was that about?

  3. Oldman Says:

I believe that Cody had his years in then he could draw his retirement anyway. If proven guilty he should pay the full price, being a law officer he knew better. I’ll bet he doesn’t spend the first day in jail,he’ll plea bargain and get zero time.By the way what were the charges?

    • Anonymous Says:

His charges were because his wife was getting his blood pressure medicine from the pharmacy and didn’t have an active prescription. That’s what part of hers are too from what I hear.

    • Liza Says:

I hear his charges were from his wife getting blood pressure meds for him without a good prescription and that’s what part of her charges are

    • Princess Blondie Says:

Actually, paperwork shows it was Cialis and Viagra Cody was getting.

  4. Anonymous Says:

blood pressure LOL it was viagra

    • Anonymous Says:

I heard Cialis and blood pressure

      • Oldman Says:

I don’t think they would arrest Cody for blood pressure meds, there’s more here than that. This stinks, I wonder what the original investigation was about and who started it. It smells like Jackson Parish politicians are at work again.

        • Anonymous Says:

thats what it sounds like, why does our sheriffs department always have to call in state police to do their job. it is also rumored that the sheriff got him the job at the ford store, just a bunch of crooks

          • Anonymous Says:

If a member of your department is being looked at it makes more sense to call the state police to investigate.

      • Anonymous Says:

        He’s a hardened criminal.

  5. Anonymous Says:

walter you should do some more investigating, take a look at the board!!!

    • Anonymous Says:

Not just the board. He needs to look into LOTS of things that got swept under the rug during all this.

      • Anonymous Says:

As in? If you’re so sure of that then go ahead and let us know what the State Police and Legislative Auditors were willing to “sweep under the rug”.

  6. Anonymous Says:

Walter can you check and see who had an investigation to start with and you will find the big rat. In Jackson Parish it seems to be a get them and protect me political system.

  7. Anonymous Says:

Don’t stop there look at the JPPJ and see what their hiding.

What about the theft of several million dollars? These people should serve big time in the confines of jail. And, the pharmacist is accused of selling drugs and sexual harassment of Cheatwood’s daughter. All of their bonds are laughable. $10,000 and 20,000. No wonder there is no trust in the judicial system. And, people know that in Jackson Parish they can get away with doing any and everything criminal and not pay the consequences. I believe Cody’s wife, Elizabeth was charged with the theft of $50,000 a few years back and he had it swept under the rug and was supposed to have paid it back.

I am very disappointed in this news. Nash’s mama and papa would roll over in their graves if they knew their son had committed this kind of criminal act or anything criminal as far as that goes.

A real investigation would ruin this parish No wonder the sheriffs brother works for the state as a investigator, Man that helps dont you think, But the Sheriffs mother in law is Ann Walsworth (another life long politician whos husband stole tax payers money) and that seems to be all that matters with the status quo Same ole people in office and we think its going to be different.

      • Oldman Says:

I don’t think we should pick on Sheriff Andy Brown,he’s the most honest politician in Jackson Parish.
Nobody seems to know the full charges that were brought against Cody and the others. The bond seems to be very low,but then again what were they charged with. Cody being in law enforcement should be charged to the full amount and not be allowed to plea bargain. There has to be more involved than what we are being allowed to know maybe because of who all is evolved. The public needs to know.
        Have a good day

All the drug charges say legend drug not controlled drug. Sounds like somebody wanted to take him down any way they could. If they are listed as legend drugs then that could be anything you have to have a prescription for. It would say controlled or scheduled if it was something bad.

          • AB Says:

You are correct. He got caught up in the investigation and technically he broke the law, but it was not narcotics or anything addictive. Most pharmacists do occasionally give some meds without a prescription, although technically it is illegal to do that.

        • AB Says:

The way I understand it, Cody didn’t do anything except accept medication that he did not pay for or have a prescription for from his wife. But it was not narcotics or street drugs – Just blood pressure and Cialis (like Viagra). He must have lied to investigators, or tried to cover for his wife for the other charges. They probably just charged him for some leverage with his wife’s case.

    • AB Says:

No, the pharmacist simply gave drugs to friends (blood pressure, Cialsis (like viagra), etc. without a prescription. He was not selling drugs or giving out anything that was a narcotic, addictive, or anything that you get “high” off of. Back in the old days it was very common for a pharmacist to give out medication without prescriptions — it was expected by the customers, even though it was technically illegal. Anyway, that is what he is charged with. He did give out a few meds without charging for them, but he is not charged with stealing any money, or anything like that.

    full service hospital

  10. Anonymous Says:

If Andy Brown is the most honest politician we have we are in serious trouble, why dosent he have to obey the law, he has a lot of good ole boys that can’t pass the police academy and the law says they are required to but he hires every wore out old men he can find with no training at all but it’s okay because he is Andy brown

  11. Oldman Says:

The “good ole boys” you are talking about have more reasoning, experience, and dealing with life in general than the young boys fresh out of the academy. Those “old men” will treat you with respect if you show respect in return. If you broke the law who had you rather come after you, academy boys or some ” old men” that had 20 years experience ?
By the way you must have had some bad dealings with the Sheriff office and or Andy Brown? What is your problem? We have the best Sheriff and deputies that we have had in 50 years.
Now let’s go back to the problem at the hospital and those arrested and, quit talking about something you know very little about.
    Have a good day

    • Anonymous Says:

Well old man you must be one of them not trained incompetent eye sores that Brown has hired. the law is the law not just the ones you or your friends like. If one of these fine officers puts his hands on someone and they get hurt , oh man what a lawsuit. Something else for Jackson parish to get a black eye over. And no I have never had any dealing with Brown except for when he came begging for votes but I have eyes and ears and see and hear whats going on. And yes the hospital is the issue at hand but it got like that by who, a highly placed deputy and his wife.

      • Oldman Says:

No,I don’t work for the Sheriff, not kin, just know what a good job he’s doing. If you would quit bitching and moaning and try to help this would be a better place to live. You are a poor excuse of a man to get on a public forum and start running down someone you seem to know little about. You must be jealous that you are not the man he is,very few are. Andy would never get on here and talk about someone,he would say it to their face and not back down.
Also I bet good money he did not beg for your vote,he might have asked for it in a humble way. If you can not say something about a man keep quite, people will find out what a fool you really are.
        Have a good nite

        • Anonymous Says:

Well old man this here is the problem, people like you who vote in the same old same old and bitch about why things are the way they are.

          • Oldman Says:

Why change when you have good people in office, the only time I bitch is when sorry people do nothing. Ok now what’s your problem?

  12. sunrisesunset Says:

Call in the FBI. They would not be prejudiced. But, who knows in our little parish. We can only hope that what goes around comes around. Just as in Leslie T.’s case. Finally. His day of reckoning happened……slowly the wheels of justice came to fruition.

  13. Anonymous Says:

This is crazy, so a deputy of Andy Brown gets arrested and Andy is the problem?? Some people need to get a life. Andy Brown is the best elected official Jackson Parish has seen in years.

    • Anonymous Says:

Some people should get a life and quit the trash talk. You did right Sheriff Brown, by calling in the State.

  14. Anonymous Says:

I heard a rumor that JPPJ president Todd Culpepper called the investigator .I wonder if he knew something about this or is he next.

    • Oldman Says:

Trash people talk trash.Quit spreading rumors.Ask Todd I’m sure he will tell you if he did or not. If he did it was for the betterment of the parish, not to hide something. Quit trying to bring people down to your own level, there are a few good people left, try to be one of them.

    • Anonymous Says:

Hey Cody quit crying and face the music!!!!

      • sunrisesunset Says:

All of them should face the music. As the old saying goes, “They made their own bed, now let them lay in it.”

    • Anonymous Says:

Need to take a look at Todd. I think his day is coming. He has a finger in everything.

      • Oldman Says:

For the betterment of Jackson Parish, that’s all. I don’t think you will find anything that Todd has done wrong. Need more civic minded people like him.

  15. Anonymous Says:

    So surprising about these people!
