More on LPPJ Meeting

There were other significant actions taken at Tuesday night’s meeting of the Lincoln Parish Police Jury (LPPJ).

The Public Works Committee discussed a beaver control program for the parish. It was noted that when the animals build dams it causes flooding issues for parish roads.

Parish Administrator Courtney Hall said he would draft an ordinance for presentation at next month’s meeting. It would authorize employment of a trapper, and provide a budget.

The Solid Waste & Recycling Committee voted to curtail the Saturday hours at the parish landfill. It was noted that few people used the facility on Saturday afternoons, so the new closing time on Saturdays will be 12 Noon.

Also, the committee authorized an appraisal of a 1 acre tract of land at the corner of US Hwy 80 and Pleasant Grove Road near Choudrant. The land would be utilized for a dumpster “mega site.”

The Personnel/Benefits Committee appointed Sandra Dupree to fill the unexpired term of Ray Bratton on the Lincoln Parish Library Board of Control. Dupree said that during her career, she had held several positions in area libraries.

Finally, the full Jury appointed James Ramsaur to the Lincoln Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and Heather Walker to the parish GIS District board. She will fill the unexpired term of her husband Ronny.
