Another Delay in Hashaway Murder Case

A status conference in the case of Cameron Mays, who is accused of killing retired Grambling State University (GSU) professor Dr. Sue Hashway in a home invasion in June of 2012, was upset and re-fixed until Tuesday, October 14, 1:30 P. M.

John Belton, the Third Judicial (Lincoln, Union Parishes) Assistant District Attorney who is handling the prosecution, was in discussions with the crime lab over some issues not yet clear, it was said in court this afternoon.

Presiding at today’s proceedings in 3rd Judicial District Court was Ad Hoc Judge Jim Wiley from Winnfield.

12-24 months is not not unusual from murder to trial. The defendant is in no hurry and won’t fight delays. The Lincoln Parish Detention Center beats death row.

  2. Bob Sherunkel Says:

This would be Belton’s first time actually trying a case in front of a jury so I can understand him wanting to wait as long as possible.

  3. Jim Green Says:

    I’m an idiot.

Trying to get guilty plea so I will not have to go to trial.. Losing my first time, in front of a jury, trial while running for DA might be prove to be embarrassing and the death of my dream of becoming DA.

Which one of you is God!.. are which one of you are your offspring are without sin? Then you cast the 1st stone..May God help us all!

  6. eyesonyou Says:

God is the Judge of who enters into the gates of Heaven or Hell not man. It is the job of us on earth to judge our fellowman to the best of our ability. We have Judges, DA’s, Laws of Man and most importantly the TEN COMMANDMENTS which us on earth use to judge our fellowman even though we fall short of Gods will and will be judged accordingly. So even in a DA’s race we voters have to JUDGE who will best do the job. And Mr. Belton fails the test as for myself. And I thank God for the ability and the means to JUDGE my fellowman in earthly matters.

  7. Bob Sherunkel Says:

So I take it from Anonymous’s comments that he/she will not be voting, for to do so would be judging. (BTW, I think the word you are searching for is “or”)
