RHS Principal Applicant Details

Details about the three applicants for Principal of Ruston High School (RHS) were made available to Lincoln Parish News Online (LPNO) this morning, after our public records request last week.

Larry Edward Long, 51, is Assistant Principal of Ouachita Parish High School. He graduated from Downsville High School in 1980. He has a BS in Social Studies from Louisiana Tech University (LTU), a Masters of Education from the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM), and thirty additional credit hours from LTU and ULM.

Teaching experience was at Marion High School, North Iberville High School, Rosedale, LA, and Ouachita Parish High.

He has been OPHS assistant principal since 2001.

Mary Elizabeth Smith, 49, is presently employed as Assistant Principal of Kingwood High School, Kingwood, TX. A 1982 graduate of West Monroe High School, she has a BA degree in Education from Louisiana Tech. Her Masters of Education is from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA, and her PhD is from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN.

Teaching experience includes Southwest Elementary School and Shuman Middle School in Savannah, GA.

Administrative experience in addition to Kingwood is listed as Windsor Forest High School, Savannah, GA.

Mark Warren Spradling, 42, is Assistant Principal at Patterson High School, Patterson, LA. He graduated from Newman Smith High School, Carrollton, TX, in 1989. He has a BS and MS from LTU, teaching certification from ULM, and thirty additional credit hours.

Teaching experience was from Farmerville Middle School, Sibley High School, Bernice High School, Ruston Junior High School, and Berwick High School.

He was Assistant Principal at Berwick Junior High School prior to his present assignment.
