    Thanks, Renee.

You have been concerned for many years.

    Please keep us informed.

    God Bless You!

  2. Anonymous Says:

May God protect and guide Renee as she sincerely serves the people of Jonesboro in an honest and intelligent way. She is the only person on the council to question rediculious actions of the mayor.

How in the world have we come to this state and the people let it continue? Why aren’t we going to Baton Rouge on buses to get their attention? Why aren’t the recall petitions flying from every post in this town?

Let’s get ourselves geared up and take our town back before everything is gone. Face it, Thompson has run Jonesboro into the ditch and there is no way out with him as the mayor, except to go deeper into the hole.

  3. Anonymous Says:

Renee, I am willing to sign a recall petition and I am sure there are others that would also. Just let us know where and when and we will be there! You are the only one on the council that we can trust to provide us with the accurate information we need to see the town hopefully turn direction.

    • Unbelievable Says:

Why are you trying to get your council member to do something illegal? If you have the balls start it yourself; but, I doubt you do since you people are always shoving someone else under the bus and wanting them to fight your fight for you.

      • Anonymous Says:

What is your solution to this mess? If there is not any money, where do you think the funds will come from to pay the street dept., the water dept., the police dept., the fire dept., etc. What will you do when any or all these services are needed? Nobody is willing to work for these departments for nothing! When the well is dry, then where will it come from? As far as shoving someone under the bus, then you better look at the current administration handling the finances, your CEO!

        • Anonymous Says:

          The proverbial well is dry.

        • Unbelievable Says:

If your solution is a recall, then start it. Stop trying to get others to do things for you. Quit being a kitty cat and take a stand or shut up. But, you won’t. There is always a big talker willing to tell people what to do; but, then they cannot act when it comes down to it.

Thanks! In addition to this letter to the editor of the JI, could you send copies to all the people in Baton Rouge that you mentioned?

It baffles me as to why NOTHING is being done with these dumb goons in City Hall……….save one lone female to fight the battle……..it seems. Are they in bed together?

Keep up your stamina and NEVER give in to this corruption.

    • Anonymous Says:

I wonder who James Roy Fannin is in love with…..or who has he seen naked?

What is the hold Leslie has on James Roy Fannin?

What is the hold Leslie has on DA Stewart?

What is the hold Rev Dill has on Leslie?

  5. Renee Stringer Says:

The following individuals and Elected Officials were copied on the letter to the Editor.
    Daryl Purpera ,

I did not have a direct email address for John Kennedy or James D. Caldwell but individuals in their departments are on the above list.

I have no intention of starting a Recall Petition, however, I do have full intentions of performing my job to the best of my abilities and to continue to report any and all issues that need attention. I will continue to represent District B and request that all issues that require attention by the Town of Jonesboro be addressed in a timely manner and with the same dispensation of funding, labor and any other measures that are required to address such issues equivalent to all other Districts in the Town of Jonesboro.

Please know that I do request repairs, I present written requests and also provide photographic evidence of areas that need direct attention and repair and also request action in the Public Council meetings.

I have no intention of sitting still and watching this Town continue in the manner in which it is currently headed. I will continue to question the funding, the spending practices and any and all areas of the current Administration as I do have the right to ask questions and also have the right to expect answers to those inquiries in a timely manner as public information is just that, public.

I am sincere in my actions as the $500.00 per month that I have drawn for 5 years now is not my compensation, the knowledge that many people, both black and white can and do desire to have a Town that they can once again say with pride” That is my home town” is still here, it’s just lost in a fog of unanswered issues and issues that seem to linger at the hands of people that choose to allow this to continue at the detriment of out Town.

I love Jonebsoro, I know she can and will come back stronger than ever, but it will take time and ALL people coming together and working for the GOOD of ALL, not just a certain group or a special interest, but for ALL the PEOPLE.

    Thank you,
    Renee Stringer
    District B
    Town of Jonesboro

Now let’s see if Chris Smith has the sack to publish this in his paper. He’s been known to bow to the mayor before

  7. Anonymous Says:

Amen, Renee! I know the $500 per month salary is no way near the heartache and headache that comes with your position!

  8. Neighbor Says:

Thanks Renee for being “the voice of reason” for our town. Please know you are in our prayers and our hearts as we petition our Heavenly Father for your continued protection against the evils of this ridiculous situation. May God bless you!

  9. Anonymous Says:

Renee Stringer it seems to me has a mighty big set of shoulders as well as the lions share of courage and integrity. God Bless Renee Stringer.

  10. Anonymous Says:

What was the “tape” Leslie and Rev Dill did not play to prove to Renee Stringer what she heard at the previous meeting?

Renee noted that the minutes regarding some sewer repairs were typed by Rev Dill incorrectly. Not sure if he changed the minutes or not….whether the minutes were approved or not.

Wonder why, when these two men where ready to play their tape, they changed their minds? Was it because Renee also has a copy of the meeting on tape? It would be interesting to “hear” if both tapes matched or one was altered.

Again, did the minutes get typed correctly?

Why is the Mayor’s assistant typing the minutes? Since the previous mayors had no assistant, who previously typed the minutes?

The participation of the Rev Dill and running the TOJ is interesting to me….anybody checked him out? He arrived from California and had many different jobs in the past….how did him come to join the fine staff of the Mayor Thompson.

Leslie sure looked nice in his new suit and scarf….did the TOJ purchase that outfit for him???

  11. Anonymous Says:

Which white person caused Leslie to not pay the IRS taxes due?

He has always said the problems were caused by folks not liking a his race and being the first black mayor of Jberry.

Leslie has always said he is in control of the Jonesboro finances.

So, must have been a white person who did not allow the IRS check to be sent…..just so Leslie can look like a bad manager for the TOJ.

Bet it was Tonya Wade…or Nick the mail walker…they both are white….This problem was not caused by our wonderful Mayor Thompson….no way….

You think Jim Fannin told him not to pay the taxes?….or the Legislative Auditor Darryl Purpera…..maybe it was Jindal….some white person told Leslie not to worry about paying taxes on time.

How about your council members? You should have seen on the budget Leslie gave you the taxes were not paid….you all should not have let Leslie get thrown under the bus like this….

Why you wait so long to help out Leslie on the tax situation???? Now, you got him looking and sounding like he don’t know what he is doing….

  12. Anonymous Says:

what the hell are you talking about.leslie doesnt know what he is doing all he is good for is bankrupting the town of jonesboro and making dam sure he gets his $75000. dollors a year.when he isnt worth it in the first place. if he would do somethig good for this town it might be different.but he is not! this town will be broke before you know it.a gost town. all he cares about is himself and no one else he is a peace of shit!!!

  13. Anonymous Says:

Hang in there the money will all be gone one day, then he will lose interest in being the Mayor and we can start over and get back on our feet. As soon as the money is all gone there will be nothing for him, then he’ll leave.

  14. Anonymous Says:

Someday everything will make perfect sense.

So for now, laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears, and be nice to all God’s creations.

Just keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason.

There is nothing new underneath the sun!

    • noname Says:

Are you suggesting that innocent people do nothing but laugh, smile, and be nice to all God’s creations while they are being lied to and financially hurt while allegedly corrupt elected officials take advantage of their positions? Not only are the citizens being hurt, but it seems the entire Parish of Jackson is becoming the laughing stock of the State.

It’s true ‘things happen for a reason’, but that does not mean all reasons are good! Bad reasons have consequences. Didn’t Jesus expose the gamblers in the Temple? He didn’t laugh and wait for things to take care of themselves or for the gamblers to get tired…he threw them out then!. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 15: 33: “Do not be misled. Bad company corrupts good character.” This scripture can apply to many areas of our lives, but I think it also refers to corrupt persons whose actions can cause weaker people will follow their lead.

  15. sunrisesunset Says:

Is the mayor’s job term limited?

  16. tacobello Says:

He can’t be your mayor forever because he won’t work for free, you moron. All of his soldiers are gonna be working for free before long. They don’t realize what a pain in the butt it is gonna be for them when it comes time to file income tax. Gonna be some mad soldiers down at H & R Block when they can’t get that refund.

    • Anonymous Says:

Leslie is gonna take care of his soldiers. Won’t be no mad folks at H & R Block…..we will ask Ms. Jackson to do our taxes….Lovely Tonya Wade got Nice Nick to take the check to the postal drop box.

All is well….do not worry….we will not have to work for free….Jim Fannin and DA Stewart got Leslie’s back. The money is gonna keep on rolling in the door at the Town Hall thanks to Jim.

The Mayor will never be brought to court thanks to DA Stewart.

And remember, we have the Rev Dill blessing all of us.

The refunds will come and we can donate to the Mayor’s defense fund.

      We stick together!!!

The trouble with trouble is that it starts out to be so much fun!

      • sunrisesunset Says:

Well, if you ALL stick together, then you must be as crooked as ol Leslie, and you do not care one iota what the town is being dug deeper into a pit by the dumb*** mayor. Do you not apprehend discernment? No, of course not because you do not know what it even means.

Did your folks teach you truth, honesty and morals. It certainly sounds as though they did not.

  17. sunrisesunset Says:

I looked for your “letter to the editor” in today’s JI. Was it not published by the one and only Chris Smith? Is he partial to anyone?

Also, what an absolute truth(s) Mrs. Blanche Shows states in her article in today’s JI. All of you bloggers, if you have not read it, please do so. She does not mix words when she brings truth to the forefront, and I appreciate her for doing that.

Too bad, there are those that do not know truth if it bit them in the butt.

  18. Anonymous Says:

Everybody seems to be assuming that Renee’s “Letter to the Editor” was intended to be for The Jackson Independent, but I don’t see that anywhere. Maybe it was for Walter Abbott, editor and publisher of Lincoln Parish News Online. That is the only place I have seen it published.
Good article by Blanche Shows in this week’s Independent. Seems she wasn’t intimidated by the Janice Simmons attack.

  19. sunrisesunset Says:

Was the “letter to the editor” meant for LPNO or the JI? I would like to see it published in the JI very soon.

    Will you do it?
