Jonesboro City Hall Searched by JPSO

A search warrant was executed at about 10:30 this morning by the Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office (JPSO) at the Town of Jonesboro’s city hall for computer files, copy machines, and their hard drives, according to Sheriff Andy Brown.

“We were looking for certain transactions in the past few months,” said Brown. “We retrieved data from the main computer server, the mayor’s computer and the copy machines,” he said.

A forensic computer expert from Caddo Parish has been sworn in as a special deputy and investigator for the JPSO, Brown said. Mark Fargerson, an investigator with the Caddo Parish District Attorney is now also a deputy.

“Mark will be assisting us from time to time in the investigation,” said the sheriff.

Fargerson was the computer expert who testified in the Stephanie Sims murder case back in 2003.

“We will be continuing the investigation, and will be at the town hall for the next few days,” Brown said. “We will probably issue more subpoenas and search warrants in the near future,” he added.

Lincoln Parish News Online will continue to cover the Jonesboro story as developments occur.

I wonder if the next search warrant will be issued for their homes…..I also wonder how long before we know what he found. Thank you Sherrif Brown for doing the right thing and getting the right people to help. Okay so how many days left before the 15 days is up?

You gotta love it! Did anyone see the 6 o’clock news? Ms. Calahan you were so…….unbelievably predictable. You are like a 70’s pull toy that says one frase because it’s all they had the capability of producing at that time. Thank you for nothing but exacerbating the issue as usual. As for Mr. Thompson I say,”you have no idea how to do the political two step.”but that is a good thing for the people of Jonesboro. You come off so naturally. Think about that before you count that as a compliment. The sheriffs office did a fine job today also.

This is an illegal search and everything obtained will be considered fruits of the poison tree and inadmissable.

It sounds like the SHerriff has his on agenda and motive and the mayor of this Village should expose him. The sherriff of the area believes that he may be above the law and does not have to abide by proper procedure and protocal.

The mayor should immediately fire his City Attorney and hire one who has the Village of Jonesboro best interest at heart. The City Attorney represent the Mayor and the City Council but I have yet to hear any steps he is making to defend the Mayor or the City Council from these illegal searches or threats which have be made.

The mayor should immediately obtain counsel and file a civil suit against the Sherriff and request as much discovery as possible. I am willing to beat that corruption runs in the vains of the Small town Sherriff who believe he is above the Law. Expose and all the hateful people of the Village

Your so funny !!! That’s the best joke I’ve heard all week ! Can you tell me one thing though , do you ever proof read what you wright on here ?

      • Anonymous Says:

nope dont proof read what I “wright” on a blog HOBO.

But I do have many professional publications that I have written that I proof read HOBO.

Keep drinking the Koolaid. The Sheriff is doing his job, investigate and determine the facts. One would think you and the mayor would welcome an indepth investigation to determine what went wrong and who is responsible. Resolve the problems and move forward. It is too late to keep applying bandaids, this needs major surgery to get to the root of the problem.

    • John Justia Says:

Do you have any evidence to substantiate that the search was as you opine (illegal)? Do you have any evidence to substantiate that (proper protocol) “protocal” as you refer was not followed? Do you have any evidence that (proper procedure) was not followed? If you would like to submit that evidence, then you should be in contact with the proper legal authorities.
If one would like to debate the (inadmissibility) of evidence, one could certainly debate the current submission of a request for a raise. This could raise the question of a “class action” suit brought by Taxpayers and a request for as much “discovery” as possible regarding the tax dollars, and all things relative to the day to day operations of the “Town of Jonesboro”. I am willing to bet that “corruption” runs in the (veins) vains as you refer to it, in many of the “Town of Jonesboro” Villagers as you refer to it. Exposure would do a wonderful job of getting rid of the hatred and prejudice, it, like those that own it, are sick.

From the legislative auditors report the salary was actually 60,000/yr for the mayor of the Village of Jonesboro until the first African American mayor was elected but for some reason it was determined that the present mayor should only be paid 35,000/yr for a full time job, which is below proverty

The village idiot strikes again. Your stupidity amazes me. Lets hope that you haven’t yet bred and polluted the gene pool.

      • Anonymous Says:

Yes, my BS degree, MS degree, and PHD along with numerous professional publication would make me the Village idiot.

Your Junior High diploma along with your Trailer education would make you the Village intellect

        • Anonymous Says:

So with all your degrees are you willing to DONATE to get the village past due bills paid? That way no more CD’s will be used for such. And that money will be available for unforseen infrastructure repairs.

      • Anonymous Says:

Jason you should be ashame of your self.

Thank you enlighting the viewers of you level of intellect. Some people can not engaging in intellectual conversation with out insults. Some people are just not intellectually capable.

Jason you should pick up a book and stimulate your mind.

“PWT” Lets see if you can figure this out

        • Jason Says:

I would suggest to you that before you try to insult someone else’s intellect, you first learn to spell and use proper grammar so you can at least appear educated.

I am wondering why the mayor is soliciting the citizens for legal fee donations when he has just got his salary doubled. How do you convince people who have their own problems cough up their hard earned money for this cause. If he is so righteous why have the churchs and NAACP turned their backs on his fund raising cry for help. Could it be the life boats are rowing away from the ship. And where is Herb.

    • Anonymous Says:

Problem bc it sounds like the Village has a sorry lazy City Attorney who is not doing his job

    • Anonymous Says:

Maybe mayor got that great idea from council member who said folks should DONATE.

  13. The lighthouse Says:

The city attorney “does not” defend the administration in a criminal case nor does he in civil cases. The mayor and any other official are on their own. If they are charged and win their case the council “may” reemberse them their legal fees. So, if the mayor does get charged and wins the case do his contributors get the reembersement?

    • Anonymous Says:

The City attorney represent the Mayor and the City Council in all legal matter involving there action in the capacity as Mayor and City COuncil.
