New Tech @ Ruston Meeting Tuesday Night

New Tech @ Ruston (NT@R) will host its first Community Meeting on Tuesday, April 13, at 6:30 PM in the Ruston High School Auditorium. The event will provide the public with information about the new high-tech academy opening in August.

RHS Principal Mike Milstead, NT@R Director Cathi Cox, NT@R Coordinator Catherine Letendre, Architect Mike Walpole, and Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce Board Chair Dr. Bobby Price will be on the program. They will tell how Lincoln Parish brought the New Tech model to the district, what it is, what makes it different, what it will look like, and how students as well as the community will benefit. There will be a question and answer session after the presentation.

Also, the NT@R staff will be introduced and members of the Advisory Board announced. The initial staff of seven includes math, two in science, English, Social Studies, AVE (Animation and Visual Effects), and Special Ed. Cox and Letendre recently completed training in the program.

There are already 126 applications for the 100 available slots.

Lincoln Parish News Online has covered the program since it was proposed late last year. Stories can be found here, here, here, here, here and here.
