Lincoln School Board to Elect 2010 Officers

The Lincoln Parish School Board will elect officers for the upcoming 2010 calendar year at the regular meeting scheduled for 6:00 pm, Tuesday, January 5 at the Central Office, 410 South Farmerville St. District Ten’s Otha Anders served as President for 2009 and District Six’s Joe Mitcham was Vice-President.

Also on the agenda are the regular financial reports from Business Manager George Murphy and an auditor’s report by CPA Margie Williamson of Monroe’s Allen, Green & Williamson, LLP.

Building and Grounds/Finance Committee Meeting

Notice of a 5:45 pm Tuesday meeting of the combined Building and Grounds/Finance Committees was posted on the Central Office door as required by law this morning when we went by to pick up the agenda and review the information packet. However, no agenda or information for the committee meetings was available at that time

Louisiana Revised Statutes 42:7A(1)(b) – the Open Meetings Law – says:

(i) All public bodies, except the legislature and its committees and subcommittees, shall give written public notice of any regular, special, or rescheduled meeting no later than twenty-four hours before the meeting.

(ii) Such notice shall include the agenda, date, time, and place of the meeting, provided that upon unanimous approval of the members present at a meeting of a public body, the public body may take up a matter not on the agenda. Any such matter shall be identified in the motion to take up the matter not on the agenda with reasonable specificity, including the purpose for the addition to the agenda, and entered into the minutes of the meeting. Prior to any vote on the motion to take up a matter not on the agenda by the public body, there shall be an opportunity for public comment on any such motion in accordance with R.S. 42:5 or 5.1. The public body shall not use its authority to take up a matter not on the agenda as a subterfuge to defeat the purposes of R.S. 42:4.1 through 8.

Presumably, the committees will discuss the proposed classroom addition at Ruston High School.
