Carey Creagan Stickney, wife of The (Monroe) News-Star Managing Editor Ken Stickney has a $61,600/year job as Dean of Enrollment Services at Louisiana Delta Community College in Monroe.
Earlier, LPNO had reported on a similar situation with Stickney’s boss, News-Star Executive Editor Kathy Spurlock. The News-Star is legendary for its “news” articles and editorials demanding ever more taxpayer dollars for the education community.
Gannett has a strict policy on conflicts of interests as can be seen here.
It should be noted that as a matter of Louisiana law, the earnings of either spouse is considered community property, and therefore is jointly owned by both spouses. In other words, in Louisiana there is no such thing as His and Hers.
