Monroe City Court Judge Tammy Lee has had second thoughts on her actions of last Friday morning, where she administered an “oath of office” to Yoshi Thompson as interim mayor of the Town of Jonesboro in the parking lot of the W. Richard Zuber City Hall.
In letter dated Saturday, September 21, and addressed to Louisiana Secretary of State Tom Schedler, Lee said:
While I am uncertain as to whether the Oath has been filed with your office, please be advised that my performing of this ceremonial function was not and is not intended to communicate to anyone a decision of whether Ms Thompson is qualified to serve in the capacity of Interim Mayor. Further, it should not be interpreted that the sweating-in qualified her as the Interim Mayor.
