A VOTE AGAINST would retain the existing language in the Constitution which affirms that the right to keep and bear arms shall not be abridged but does not require strict scrutiny of arms laws and expressly allows the Legislature to regulate concealed weapons.

What bothers me is the “strict scrutiny” judicial review clause that will be added to the constitution. As some pointed out the judicial review board/committee can change their minds and can allow or disallow as they choose.

This will put more power in the hands of the judicial arm of government when what we need is less government in our lives. And a concern of mine is: are the ones who would exercise the "strict scrutiny" appointed or elected? In other words could we vote them out if they didn't exercise their "scrutiny" according to the wishes of the people? The judicial body does not always act in accordance with the people's wishes. Haven't we been seeing this for a while now , locally? My vote would be "NO" on Amendment 2. Louisiana has good gun laws now, in my opinion, so why change, especially not knowing the full ramifications of another law?
