Totally a “ship of fools” who are costing the state and town taxpayers a wad of money. It’s pretty obvious these folks are unteachable and the only excuse offered by them is “you just jealous cause I’m the first black mayor”. The fact is that you are, have been and always will be incapable of properly managing finances for the town.

Well you would think that people would have known about Thompson before he was elected – he NEVER had a JOB!! Except the political bribes he participated in – sometimes politically called “canvassing”. I do think he is no better at handling “business” now (some 6 years later) than he was to begin with. And he has no idea how to conduct business for a Town – much less himself. Just look at the evidence. It speaks for itself.

The don’t owe us any help, period. The job of mayor requires that you know how to function as a mayor, including how to run a business, read a spreadsheet, construct a budget and hire competent employees, that should not cost the entire state because one man cannot do his job. No they don’t need to spend any more of my taxes on incompetence.

I totally agree. But if you watched their last meeting in BR, they repeatedly told the “mayor” to work with the FA and he bluntly implied that he would not. So what is going to happen now that the FA resigned? I will continue to pray that someone has the BALLS to do their J O B!

It appears that she now wants the Legislative Auditor to quit spending money on Jonesboro. I might not agree with all the Legislative Auditor has done, but he is the only one that has stepped up and at least tried to give Jonesboro some help, and I am thankful for that. Jonesboro is in a troubled time, we need help, the last thing we need is the LA to pull out and give up on us.

Why didn’t you counsel the mayor when they sent the first round of help, the CFO that cost over $100,000 and got nothing more accomplished that intalling Quick Books. Then they sent a Fiscal Adminstrator to help with over 30 years of experience and expertise and he refused that help. How much help do you want? You must fail to realize that the continual bail out has not worked. There are people in elected positions that need to help and it’s not the Legislative Auditor.

One does wonder at what point sanity might prevail. $300k in LLA costs, $300k+ in missing funds, who knows how many CDs were broken, free water for certain folks, unpaid health coverage for employees…so in reality I would estimate the loss is upwards of $1 million and counting.

Sanity must (exist) in order to prevail. Cognizant, rational thought on a daily basis must exist in order to prevail. The exception to these attributes are manifested every time one man opens his mouth. He rants and raves because the State is trying to help, first with the CFO-who was his handpicked candidate, that was a flop, then he rants and raves because the State finally steps in and appoints a Fiscal Administrator, Fiscal Administrator cannot get his cooperation and washes hands and then he rants and raves because the Fiscal Admininstrator leaves-there is a very serious indication of the lack of the first word in this paragraph. Somebody needs to evaluate the situation, in more than one way. -

You and I agree. I never thought Renee wanted BR to quit. Her sole purpose in requesting from Mr. Purpera the amount of funds that have been used to try to help these black nincompoops was to give the public a knowledge of just how much money has been totally WASTED. May have just as well struck a match and had a big ol’ bonfire because in reality that is what throwing all the money away resulted in…….NOTHING.
Jonesboro had better get rid of ol’ Les before he brings further wrath upon the little town of Jonesboro. Too, it (town) is becoming smaller because people are leaving to get out of Dodge in order to better themselves.

And that is a big part of the problem. Those who leave Jonesboro because they are frustrated with the leadership are helping to contribute to it continuing. Less people to vote, less to help solve those problems. It may be best for them persnoally, but it is only making things much more difficult for those who remain.

I truly feel sorry for the “good” citizens of Jonesboro that have no choice to move elsewhere. We will NEVER see Jonesboro the way the town was even just a few “short” years ago unless a good businessman/woman becomes mayor, and there is a council that imbodies truth, honor, courage, and a desire to truly help this town out of the abyss. Ever since the one that occupies the “White House” on Allen Ave. came on the scene, the town has constantly been deteriorating and the mayor’s office is imploding upon itself.
May God help the Town of Jonesboro in the future for it truly is in the hands of a mayor that does not know how to lead.

Gary nunn was cleared of all allegations that he did anything that the woman claimed. The town has been able to survive up til now because of the FA. It would have already went under if not for him. Now that he’s gone, count the days until bankruptcy. It’s coming! Thompson cant even manage his own home, much less the entire town!
