Jonesboro Fiscal Admnistrator Resigns

William Ryder, the Town of Jonesboro’s Fiscal Administrator, has resigned, Lincoln Parish News Online (LPNO) has learned. Ryder had been on the job for a little over two months.

No details were available about the circumstances of the resignation.

Ryder was appointed to oversee the town’s finances after a trial and court ruling last July in Second Judicial (Bienville, Claiborne, Jackson parishes) District Court in Jackson Parish.

  2. Bill Thomas Says:

  3. Anonymous Says:

Well, like porky pig says, “A-blee-A-blee-Dats all Folks!”

  4. ThisIsMadness Says:

    What now?

  5. Anonymous Says:

I am sure there is celebration at city hall but I wonder what Mr Ryder will put in his final report? Not to sure the repercussions of his leaving are going to be good for mayor.

Judge Teat still has right to appoint another Administrator, mayor may get a rude awakening if a hardnose comes in.

    • Goodtimes Says:

got the grill fired up……..got the slow jam playin……..got some 40′s on ice……it’s all good……….

  6. Anonymous Says:

Nothing says this town is screwed like a financial adminstrator throwing his hands up and saying…”Yeah, there is no hope with these people in office.” This happened after the courts ruling in favor of the ex-fire chief and how much Jonesboro is going to have to pay out for that.

  7. Messy Says:

Like I has been telling you all….All is good in the fine town of Jonesboro.

Head on out to the front porch for little sweet tea and a good rocking.

    • Goodtimes Says:

you so right…….gonna have a rockin good time on the porch at da Hall or better yet come to the rock house tonight…..oh yeah….

  8. Anonymous Says:

Dats right you tell em mayer…dis our town bitches!

    • Ouachita Parish Says:

how appropriate….your language skills match exactly your accounting skills…..so happy it is “your town”.

    • Anonymous Says:

      Not so fast my friend!
The mayor just screwed himself! If he would have cooperated with Mr. Ryder an let him get things back in order he would have left an the mayor an his idiots could have gone on doing there thing. Now there is NO way ol James Roy or Stewart can sweep it under the rug!!! Stay tuned boys this is a blessing in disguise!!!!

  9. Anonymous Says:

If Mr. Ryder’s official report is anything like his testimony at the fiscal review, any “celebration” by the mayor and his supporters is not only premature, but would be short-lived. It just means than another FA will come in. Nothing has changed about the court ruling..

  10. Anonymous Says:

Maybe just maybe when the Attorney General finds out that Leslie won’t cooperate and that is why the FA couldn’t do his job, that he will finally see the light! I honestly do not believe for one second that this is over!

  11. Anonymous Says:

No one has the jewels to do anyting to Les! No hope for Jonesboro. May we should vote to move the parish seat and let him have Jonesboro.

  12. Anonymous Says:

Maybe the next FA will go in with his eyes open, and not expect any “cooperation” by the administration.

  13. curious Says:

I feel another trip to Baton Rouge is in the works!

  14. GothicArch Says:

I still say sompin’ bad is gonna happen if somebody don’ get up dere and fix things. Somebody gonna snap.

  15. Anonymous Says:

I have a feeling that all Leslie’s tricks are about to be blown out of the water! Think about it, why else would the LLA not comment on why the FA resigned!

  16. Marvin Qualls Says:

I’m so glad that FA left, he was doing nothing but sucking the town dry. He profit over 60,000 with end a 60 day period. If the town was so broke how could we pay out this type of cash. Most of y’all wonder why nothing never happen to the mayor, have y’all ever thought maybe he has not done anything wrong and god is just protecting him from everthing the enemy put in his way. I have read a lot of comments and everything you guys try to do to put the mayor in jail, or bring him down he manage to get pass every time. He is not no super hero its jus god got him protected so y’all can lie, steal, cheat to make him look bad but at the end of the day god got the last say so. So stop slandering this man because at the end of the day its largest than us.

    • Anonymous Says:

Have you seen where he actually has been paid. Do you know why water bills was sent out late this month, why insurance is not paid, workmanship comp not paid, taxes to the IRS not paid? Do I need to go on and on? If none of this is true then explain why there hasn’t been an audit in Five years if everything is okay!

      • Joanie Johnson Says:

Don’t waste your time or breath, some people will never accept the facts, they avoid them at all costs.

    • anonymous Says:

Don’t blame God for protecting him, those are politicians, not God.

    • Anonymous Says:

I would like to start off by saying Mr. Qualls you sir are a coat tail riding idiot. The water bills were probably late due to the fact that for the first time in many years they were done CORRECTLY and not based on who kissed Thompson’s a$$ the hardest. And as far as Thompson staying out of jail that is due to the fact that Fannin an Stewart have so much dirty money invested in Les that they have to protect him to keep themselves out of the fire!!”"

    • sunrisesunset Says:

      Marvin Qualls:

I feel very sorry for you. You are very misguided by your loyalty to the one that is the same hue as you. You do not know about that of which you speak. Can you please let us know just how you arrived at your decision that there is nothing wrong with his honor considering all of the various problems that have popped up under the current no-nothing administration. Will you PLEASE elaborate on how honest and truthful previous administration were? Do you EVER remember audits not being made, money unaccounted for, lies, thievery, unco-operation, and corruption? Of course not. Because former administrations were above board in their knowledge of running an entity. Certainly you are not blind, because you drive a vehicle, do you not?

God does not have his arms wrapped around ol’ Les BECAUSE it is Les’ demeanor that makes God weep.

Maybe the FA’s resigning was a very good thing. Because now Mr. Ryder will certainly go back to BR and lay down the cold, hard facts to those that will be making future decisions as it regards to ol’ Les and the TJ.

I hope the next FA, or whomever comes to Jonesboro to straighten this mess out, will be one no-nonsense, shooting from the hip FA. It is not over yet……not by a long shot Mr. Qualls and Messy.

A great day is coming……just don’t know the time yet.

      • Anonymous Says:

No, need to feel sorry for me. I feel sorry for the person who was to coward to use their name and chose to use mine. Whatever views I have or had are kept to myself. I did not right all of these posts.

  17. Marvin Qualls Says:

Water bills sent out late ins not paid, like u said this month william ryder was running the show this month but y’all still find away to blame the mayor. It’s funny to me

    • Show Time Says:

the show……what a show it’s been. Can you please tell us when the movie begins because the cartoons have been running for almost 6 years………..that’s funny to me too.

    • hmmmmm Says:

You are an idiot. Ryder was in charge? Really when he cannot get any cooperation I hardly call that “in charge”. You voted to hire someone for clerk that was not even qualified. Where did she go? Run off with her tail tucked? Hmmm….what I am going to find funny and very much of God is when you are in jail along with your mayor. Maybe you can sell perfume there.

    • sunrisesunset Says:

Un-coperation from the mayor, I believe that is what it’s called, Marvin. How could the FA do anything without his honor’s co-operation?

  18. Anonymous Says:

Remember to vote no on the tax renewal

    • hmmmmm Says:

Exactly….vote NO! Otherwise we are just giving the idiots more money to play with.

      • Marvin Qualls Says:

Y’all vote no we vote yes

        • Show Time Says:

“I feel very disappointed, as a matter of fact; I call it a breach of contract,” says Mayor Leslie Thompson. He says Ryder’s job was to come up with a plan to help the town. NBC 10 took a look at the contract. It doesn’t set a timeline and appears to give Ryder the authority to determine when to leave.

“What was our money spent for?” questions Thompson.
          Quoted from Channel 10 news.
This totally defines Hypocrisy. Disappointed, what a joke, breach of contract-an even bigger joke. The greatest laugh of all-”what was our money spent for”…………….it never ceases to amaze me how his star reporter can spin a story to give the appearance that he is so wonderful and mostly disadvantaged. Maybe she can come and work for him in his adminstration…..they compliment each other well.

          • curious Says:

that MF is not disappointed, he loves the fact the FA resigned! He probably did not cooperated on purpose to run the FA off. So now since he accomplished that, BUSINESS AS USUALL! Good Lord!

          • sunrisesunset Says:

Channel 10 News=biased reporting, unfair and certainly not balanced. Shame on them. That knee jerk reporter from channel 10 needs to be thrown out on her big ol’ tush for slanted news reporting. Bet it is only news about Jonesboro that she spins only as she wants it. Sorry, sorry, idiot.

  19. Vote for City Parish Consolidation Says:

This needs to be on the ballot in December too:

City-Parish Consolidation: Some Questions and Answers

What are the outstanding changes provided in the Plan of Government?

The city boundaries were extended far enough to include almost all the highly populated area.

The plan provided for unification or consolidation of the parish and city, as far as possible.

The organization and form of the government was patterned closely after the council-manager system.

This plan could change the entire way of the current dictatorial leadership and since there is no one willing to do their job, vote the Mayor/Town Council out and move on or better yet, vote to move the Parish seat.

It can be done, are you willing to do it?

    • popo Says:

No I am not willing. The parish is worse than the town on many levels. Money situation–no; but, other things yes.

      • bart Says:

it’s already in the works, so get ready there is hope on the horizon……….out with the old in with the new…….

  20. anonymous Says:

what steps do you take to make that happen?

  21. Anonymous Says:

Just read where an Arab sheik by the name of Abu Dhabi auctioned off the license plate number one belonging to the sheikdom for $14 million dollars. If the Town of Jonesboro could get that for their A-1 license plate, it would solve all our problems for a while at least. Don’t hold your breath until that happens, though.

    • East B.R. Says:

you would be lucky to get 14 cents for that plate, it is the laughing stock of all Louisiana, they even call the Capitol when it rolls up on the grounds…..just so the guards can laugh when it roll through the check point…..my uncle works there, he says it’s the biggest joke on the grounds for the day.

  22. Anonymous Says:

It appears that there is increasing support for another petition, particularly in District A, for a recall of the Jonesboro mayor and four of the council members. That is the district that only had about a 25% turnout in the last mayoral/council election, perhaps partly due to the fact that they had no choice for their council member, Lamkin being the only candidate. There is little problem getting the required number of signatures, because that has been done before. In the past, state officials gave little attention to them, but with the report of the last fiscal review committee and the anticipated negative report by Mr. Ryder of the Town’s operations and lack of cooperation by the mayor, it is believed there would be more favorble consideration given in Baton Rouge to one now.

  23. noname Says:

Did Mr. Ryder give a reason for his resignation? No doubt it has to be nerve-racking trying to work with a mayor who has no intention of co-operating. I would suggest Thompson’s lack of co-operation has more to do with a cover-up of his seemingly corruption than anything else. It’s obvious to any intelligent person that things are not being run lawfully or in the best interest of Jonesboro. If Thompson cared for the people or the Town of Jonesboro, he would never have asked for nor taken a raise in salary. That should tell blacks and whites what his motivation really is…to line his own pockets at taxpayers’ expense. I have watched videos of this mayor and the Deputy Mayor, and they both appear not to be playing with a full deck of cards. Can either of them make a coherent sentence?

I wish I was living in Jonesboro now. I would be at every meeting of the ‘mayor in name only’ to voice my opinion, and I would check with a lawyer (not Doug Stokes) to see if it was lawful to form a caravan and travel to Baton Rouge and demand the Governor listen to us. It’s time for the State to oust this mayor, his co-horts and those who have aided and abetted him in what appears to be outright corruption. Those who have willingly aided and abetted him should be punished also.

  24. Anonymous Says:

I don’t know who replied for Marvin Qualls, seems like somebody is using my name and speaking for me. These are not my views whoever is hiding behind Marvin Qualls name please be man or woman enough to use your own name. This is from the real Marvin Qualls. I don’t even live in the city to even vote for the Mayor. I was informed of these post from another person. I don’t even get on here, except to post this. Stand for yourself coward.

  25. Anonymous Says:

Well, enough is enough. I have sent a post to Fox news about the situation here in Jonesboro La, and hopefully they will read into the situation that we are experiencing here, and find out exactly what is going wrong and help settle this situation, or at least, get those involved that care about our country, and the things that are uncapable of being corrected at our level. Sorry Mr. Jindal. Seems to me, there are some coward as### that are not knowledgable of getting to the bottom of this mess. Bottom line, respect what you represent, and do the job to the best of your ability as best as you can. If you are benefitting by the increasing of wages for not doing so, then it is obvious that you don’t care about what the tax payers are paying for. BS!
