Tution is on a complete runaway cost increase spiral. Government defunds the subsidy to colleges; then colleges increase tuition and “fees”; students and parents demand more tuition assistance from government; government loans more money to students (who go into deeper debt), then colleges suck it up and raise tuition again. meanwhile, the state reduces the subsidy yet again, spending the money elsewhere, and continuing to force the costs onto the students. Peopla have about reached the limit when it costs La. tech students $2000 or more per quarter for tuition.
