Former Jonesboro Fire Chief Awarded $36 Thousand Judgement

Former Town of Jonesboro Fire Chief David Roberts was last week awarded over $36 thousand, plus interest, as a result of being improperly terminated in January, 2011.

See here the judgement.

Second Judicial (Bienville, Claiborne, Jackson parishes) District Division B Judge Jimmy Teat issued the order October 9.

Roberts won a civil suit against the town last July.

TOJ better start picking up cans on the side of the road! They need to get every penny they can to pay for this judgement and the many more that will be coming their way. Time for ole Les to give up high salary and sell the A-1 to help pay the bills! I bet cashing in another CD is in the works shortly!

  2. educated one Says:

    how many cd are left?

    • Anonymous Says:

Not many and the ones left I think can only be used for certain things, not for general purposes like pay bills.

    what next?

it’s one thing to be knocked down, but how much further is Stewart and Caldwell going to let this continue? I mean really, how much more can the Town endure, we are all having to suffer due to one person’s ineptness and they just sit there and let it keep on going.

How many had a normal water bill this time around? Still problems there also!

It’s about time that he and his crew start paying for all of the wrong things they have done. So i say way to go David, I knew you had a crew behind you that would push until Justice were served. Maybe this will the beginning of a turn around for Jonesboro. If anyone deserves it , you certainly do because you did a wonderful job at the Fire Department without partipating in Politics and hollering ME ME ME . So Congratulations on winning your battle , due to the mayor and council making stupid decisions .

I know how they can pay Mr. Roberts, reduce the current chiefs pay and give Mr. Roberts his due amount. I’m sure he does more at home than the current one does at city hall. If he thinks he’s doing such a good job then way doesn’t he ask for PIAL to do another rating it could have been done the following year or any year for that matter they don’t have to wait until 2015. But he will wait because he knows he want be there then, because a new mayor will have been elected. He want be able to suck up to a reasonable person. The current chief want a new truck and new fire truck but that won’t help the rating all he wants to do is brag that he got a new truck. He needs to try and set a good example and quit wearing those pj to a call. All he and the mayor won’t to do is spend money that don’t belong to them cause they ain’t never had no money and couldn’t work a real job if they had too. All they can do is run their mouth and try and make people think they know what they are doing. What a joke they are.

I am sure the mayor will be glad to take it out of his salary, since he caused the trouble. After all, he would still be getting $34,000, almost what previous mayors were getting. Oh, I forgot; he is going to have to refund three months of that according to the Essmeier case ruling unless the appeal is granted, which is very doubtful.

I’ll tell you what is doubtfull, that Roberts will ever see a dime in the next 2 years. That whole thing will be tied up ib appeals for as long as they can. Also, go back a month or ao to where LPNO reported about the meeting the mayor and council had with Stokes. Discussing on what happens if the towb doesnt pay. Stokes stated “Its not like when yiu sue me and I dont.pay, you can just come after my house, cars, other assets. If the town doesnt pay, nothing can be done!” That whole meeting soinded like them already deciding that they wernt going to pay. Sad!

Davie-boy needs to take me fishing now in his new boat.

Stokes is probably right in that nothing can be done as far as ever getting the money itself, but you and I both know that something can be done with a mayor and town council members who habitually do this kind of thing over and over. It is called malfeasance, and will take a lot of time and persons dedicated to pursue it, however. The best way is to simply vote them out when the time comes for re-election.

Off subject, but today in the Independent Shopper, William Ryder is advertising in the Help Wanted Ads for a Water Clerk Supervisor and a Accounts Payable Clerk.

    • Reed Says:

good luck with that mr rider….aint no body gonna go expose themselves to that mess up there, where is the clerk that was supposed to “help” the mayor, if she is that good she sould handle all of it……where is dill……..he supposed to be the answer to all the issues too……

    • sunrisesunset Says:

Where is that Moore lady…..oops…..woman…. from the School Board Office? Where is the Dill pickle? I thought they both were wanna be clerks or assistant clerk in Dill pickle’s case.

here is a novel idea-instead of taking the time to have the psuedo council meeting-just tell the king to combine everything into one great big vote-you can get it all passed that way and dougie can go home sooner and the cost will be so much cheaper……..can I get a motion?

Wonder how much longer the out-of-town lawyers will represent Jonesboro when they find there is no longer any money to pay them? Won’t be much lost, as they haven’t won a case yet and don’t figure to win any in the future. Guess Stokes could represent them, but I believe something was said about it being a conflict of interest.

I saw on the news where I think it was in Boisser Parish they are trying to pass an law where you can’t wear your pajamas in public. The fire chief in Jonesboro better look out.
