During last weeks meeting of the Fiscal Review Committee, it seemed the three members were trying to come up with some sort of leverage to force controversial mayor Leslie Thompson to operate the town as the Local Government Budget Act directs.
Here’s a thought – Shut off state and federal grants until the town’s finances can be audited.
Just like it says in the law.

Well DUH. Imagine having to follow the law. Never gets done in Jonesboro, does it? I’m sick of it all. And the bad part of it is – I can’t leave – I’m forced to stay – I have property there and the value continues to decline no matter what I do. What will it take to stop this mess? Who will finally help us? We need help to end this mess! Please, oh please, somebody be brave and do what you are supposed to do – follow the law – stop this mess!

It seems nobody cares one iota about bringing Jonesboro back to a town of honor and respectability. Oops, there is one that cares…………the devil himself. And, he is having a field day in Jonesboro. So, give credit where credit is due……the devil. He wants to keep Jonesboro under his three pronged pitchfork. And, right now he has it plunged right in the heart of Jonesboro.
And, why is Jonesboro off the Non-Compliance list when things are no better? This doesn’t make sense.

Because Fannin wants sewage for Gate City and the only way to get it is with a grant. It’s all about votes and accollades and BS in this state. Sometimes I wish I was criminally minded as I would fit right in in this snake pit; but, alas, those of who seek to do right are often trampled on by those who operate Louisiana as usual. Mr. Jindal, my respect is gone for you, where is the abatement of corruption in Jonesboro? Surely you have heard of all that is going on? Keep turning a blind eye and deaf ear–maybe once the town is bankrupt you will be forced to deal with it.

they will have to deal with (it) because (it) ain’t gettin better, (it) is getting worse. They can thank themselves for the tender and gentle way they have dealt with this whole mess……all for the vote. Hope the drive from Baton Rouge gets long and hard before it’s all over and they come to detest Jonesboro, they have made it what it is……a catastrophe. Let’s all bow to the West and praise the one that could have done his job long ago but has given every excuse known to mankind.

And, basically, we have a mayor who plays the race card every time the wind blows. I can’t balance the budget because I am black. I can’t find the missing money because I am black. I can’t get a clean audit because I am black. I have people getting free water all over town that voted for me because I am black. I have idiots who follow my every command on the council because I am black. And, if you dare mention it to me, it’s because i am black.
