Why doesn’t Ruston just treat its waste water and reuse it? That’s exactly what Las Vegas does. They pump water from Lake Mead, treat it for use as their potable water supply, then retreat the waste water for secondary use to water golf courses, as a supply for fountains, for car washes, and other non-potable uses. The waste from this secondary use is treated and released back into Lake Mead.

Since there’s no problem with the Sparta Aquifer and the commission head has admitted as much, then why is there a need to pump water from Lake D’Arbonne instead of continuing to use ground water? These schemes are beyond stupid and costly! Rick Holt runs a newspaper and is not a licensed engineer. Why is anyone listening to this idiot? Who dreams up these farcical schemes? It’s certainly not anyone with an engineering background.

Hey, get ready, they’re still trying to get about $30 million or more of other peoples’ money to pipe/pump water from Lake D’arbonne back to Ruston and treat it.
This same water flows from Ruston to Lake D’arbonne by gravity, since several million gallons per day is the output of the Ruston sewer treatment plant and it flows to the Lake.
I can’t understand why people don’t understand the Federal government is beyond broke.

They should’ve cut the useless Sparta Groundwater Commission’s request to zero. Rick Holt admitted at last month’s meeting that there was no drop in water levels in the Sparta Aquifer. Since there’s no problem, then there’s no need for this useless commission and certainly no need for taxpayer funds to be wasted on them.
