Jonesboro, Gibsland on Fiscal Review Committee’s Oct 2 Agenda

The towns of Jonesboro and Gibsland will be the subject of an October 2 meeting of Louisiana’s Fiscal Review Committee.

See here the agenda.

Gibsland is in Bienville parish, and borders Jackson parish, wherein Jonesboro lies. Both are in the Second Judicial (Bienville, Claiborne, Jackson parishes) District, where controversial District Attorney Jonathan Stewart holds office.

Stewart has steadfastly refused to bring Jonesboro’s financial issues before a grand jury, despite credible allegations of wrongdoing. Of late, Gibsland has also been in the news, with The (Shreveport) Times reporting similar issues to that plaguing Jonesboro.

The latest audit for the town also found a myriad of financial problems.

Last March, the committee voted to appoint a Fiscal Administrator to oversee Jonesboro’s finances.

The committee is made up of the Louisiana Legislative Auditor (LLA), the Louisiana Attorney General (AG) and the State Treasurer.

Big woopy-doo…they are on the agenda. Oh my I bet the Mayor and cronies are shaking in their shoes. Not another agenda….noooooooooo! How many times can they be called before the committee with nothing happening to them? It is apparent to all that this is more stalling and grandstanding and one big political dump so the powers that be can claim they are taking action. I am tired of paying so they wipe their collective asses with this town. Shame on all of you for allowing this to continue.

I hope the FA is going to be at this meeting to report on what he has found with the shambled books with the town. I wonder if ole Les is going to try to defend his actions for wanting to appeal the FA being here. Maybe just maybe there will be some good news to all this mess!
