This would not even be happening if it wasn’t for the FA…the mayor and his followers didn’t even know about these tax renewals! I will not be helping them out by voting for these….why give them more of our money for them to use on nonessential things instead of what matters the most!

According to my calendar, the Court of Appeal’s decision is due today in Town of Jonesboro’s controversial Mayor Leslie Thompson. Has anyone heard anything??? Anxiously waiting – if the Second Judicial Court’s ruling is upheld, how soon will Leslie have to pay back his “infamous raise”??

May be a little off the story blog here, but I want to give kudos to one council member and her name is Renee Stringer.
She spells out some woes of the TJ with a full page ad in the “shopper” and will be in the JI tomorrow (Thursday).

I am white and have known Renee for many years. She may have some of you fooled, but not me. As for ole Les, he sucks! Ole Les, Renee or Bradford will pay their bills. I hope these aren’t the only choices to vote for come election time. If these are the choices, i may not vote. I would like to see Jan Barnes run.

Renee also made the Channel 10 news this evening as the only councilwoman to oppose the proposed tax renewals. She said since there had been no audit for the past four years, that she would not support the proposal. Her full page ads are a good way to reach most people with her views, even those not in her district, as almost everyone in Jonesboro receives the Shopper.

If everyone in the town would vote NO on the tax, that would show the mayor. Oh what time was the meeting over? Cause the mayor was on highway 4 east, I did not think the town car that the mayor drives is suppose too have lights on it that is ( red and blue lights ).

I saw that broadcast. You are right. Also, saw a very good close-up of councilman Sam Lamkin, but in reality that TV shot of him looked like he was about to go to sleep. At that time, his name should have been Sam Left Us because he seemed not to be engaged with anything going on.

Another way for the town to save some money, if they don’t have a police dept. (to save money). Then why don’t they go back to an all volunteer fire dept. just a thought (the volunteers do most of the work anyway)

The same scenario that’s happening in Jonesboro Louisiana is happening in the District of Columbia. You can call it anything you wish, but it all boils down to the fact that the black folks are now in control from the top government job in this nation to the local governmental jobs and NOTHING is happening to correct this — they think they “deserve it” because of slavery … Seems that you violate their rights by trying to make them do their jobs ethically and morally correct. And folks, I would like to suggest that on November 6th, stand up and be an American and vote. Men and women have fought in wars to keep us free and to have the right to vote our convictions. May their efforts not have been in vain!!! God help us …

I agree with you! There are plenty of both colors. I am just fed up with all politics. Both parties! It is not about what is best for the town, state or country anymore, it’s what is best for me and my party. It’s all about memememe….. Everybody running for a public office has their on agenda. What can I get out of this? They all make promises they know they can’t keep and we as voters swallow it hook, line and and sinker. Until we stop allowing this, it will continue. Put some thought into your voting power.

In the ad for a Town accountant, it was stated that the person hired would be responsible to and assist the Town Clerk. Since there is no Town Clerk apparently, only a “Dy. Clerk” (Deputy?), to whom would that person answer if and when hired? Seems it should be to the Fiscal Administrator?
