Last Night’s Ruston City Council Meeting

It took but twenty minutes, but several things did get done at last night’s meeting of the Board of Aldermen for the City of Ruston.

The board adopted a resolution permitting JEDCO Properties to among other things:

rebate all eligible local sales/use taxes on the purchase of eligible construction materials, machinery and equipment purchased for this project and used by the business permanently on that site.

JEDCO is a James Davison company that owns the building on Celebrity Drive where Mortgage Contracting Services (MCS) will soon locate.

Also approved was a $137 thousand project to rehabilitate the apron at the Ruston Regional Airport, and a $140 thousand agreement with Riley Company for engineering and design to improve Louisiana and Texas Avenues.

Won’t be much money involved. The Police Jury gets 3/4 cent; the sheriff now gets 1/4ent, the fire district gets 1/4 cent and the state gets, what 4 or 4 1/2 cents I forget which. Sales tax on the materials is what it amounts to.
