Jonesboro Cemetery Update

The Jonesboro Cemetery has been mowed, that includes the Town of Jonesboro parcel, the Watson Addition and the Beasley Addition. The graves that were caved in have been filled with soil, Headstones have been straightened up, some will be re leveled as needed, foot markers have been adjusted, bushes and undergrowth have been pruned as needed and some removed. Trees have been pruned and all streets leading into the Jonesboro Cemetery have been mowed and cleared. Please take time to visit the Cemetery and see what a difference teamwork can accomplish, and don’t forget to thank Sheriff Brown, Billy Wayne Pullig and their crew of inmates for the job well done.

I appreciate s0 much the work done to the Jonesboro Cemetery. First of all my thanks to Renee Stringer for her help in getting the ball rolling.Sheriff Brown can be counted on to be of help,Billy Wayne Pullig and the crew of inmates did a GREAT job.I know a great many other families feel this.

  2. Louisa Jones Says:

Renee, thank you so much for taking an aggressive stand on this issue. My sincere appreciation to Shreiff Brown and Mr. Pullig for getting the job done. I can see from the picture that a lot of hard work was put into getting the cemetery back to the way it should be. I”m sure the “honorable mayor” will take the credit, but we all know who is responsible. Again, thank you so much, Renee.

  3. Melanie Shively Says:

Thanks Renee for “fighting the good fight” for what is right! Jonesboro is lucky to have you. Thanks to Andy Brown and all the Sheriff Dept. for stepping up to the plate. Even though I no longer live in Jonesboro/Jackson Parish, it will always be home!

  4. Lorri Greer Says:

On Mother’s Day I went and put flowers on my grandmother’s grave and was so shocked at my Great Aunt and Uncle’s graves. They are at the edge of the woods and their graves were covered in branches. This was about the time the Mayor said it would be the last time they would mow. There were old flowers blown all over the cemetery. I am so happy that there are people who care so much about the people that are laid to rest there. Thanks to all who have so much respect to the deceased.

  5. Linda Devine Says:

    Thanks to all.

  6. Donald Marion Fowler Says:

See what a little cooperation can do. Stringer and Brown and the inmates – THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!

We know to whom the credit goes for cleaning up the cemetery. It is certainly not the esteemed mayor. He cannot do squat.

Thanks Andy, Renee, and Billy Wayne. You pick up the ball and run with it……….as in accomplishing what needs to be done.

Thanks to Sheriff Brown and his department for picking up the ball that the Town dropped again. For once, I agree with Messy. Would like to know who started those rumors, because they are batting 1.000 so far.

    • Perry J. Says:

who cares, they were found out to be the liars. they had to quote an inmate, what does that say about them? some people have little to do but try to keep a lie going…….Truth is putting on it’s shoes while a lie is traveling the world. let them keep on, one day they might just realize they don’t control everything or everyone, just themselves and obviously that is too much responsibility for them.

      • Dill Pickle Says:

Please do not be so judgmental on imates. God has not abandoned them….or you or our Mayor.

        • Mt. Olive Says:

look who’s judging…….you tell others not to judge then you judge people for having an opinion……..practice what you preach….Mr. Gherkin.

Please stop using this forum for downgrading people. Let’s use this to find ways to improve our town and parish. We all should list many things that could be done to make this a better place in which to live. Please do it without constantly naming names and throwing barbs. What does it accomplish?

    • Perry J. Says:

if you don’t like what people write, don’t read it.

    • Donald Marion Fowler Says:

What you don’t seem to understand is that we are not downgrading people we are simply pointing out their shortcomings and Lord knows the Mayor (ugh! I hate using that word when talking about the CTIC) is blessed with an abundance of shortcomings. The sooner he is out of office, the better for the town of Jonesboro. He has some time left to screw up the town but come election, God forbid that there is a white person who does not make it to the polls to show their dissatisfaction with this clown. And for God’s sake, Jonesboro, don’t run two whites against him. He’ll win every time we split the vote. If need be, get another black to run against him and the single white and split the vote that way. As for listing things that need doing in Jonesboro, just look around – there are neighborhoods that resemble trash dumps. I do belive the Mayor (ugh!) has the power to cite violators.

If you want to list things that we can do to improve our town and parish………I’ve got several plans for you!

Plan A—Recall the CTIC mayor and everyone on the town council except for Renee Stringer since she is the only one that has the guts to stand up to him and his bull crap.

Plan B–Keep praying that the AG/DA/anyone will arrest his royal butt along with the rest of his idiot cronies and send them away to Angola for a very long time.

Plan C–Form a committee that is interested in the betterment of Jonesboro and have them find someone that is willing to run against the SOB and then do whatever is necessary to get people to the polls. We must also do whatever is necessary to find someone that will run against the DA (other SOB) that will prosecute the dang crooks instead of sit on his butt looking stupid. I would also suggest that we all vote against our glorious AG (Caldwell) since he also seems to be content to sit on his tail and do nothing.

Pick whatever plan you like, but either way the SOB has to go!!! To allow him to stay in office will do nothing but take our tax money and put it in his pockets. If something is not done, Jonesboro will be a ghost town within a year.

    • Hometown girl Says:

I like all three of your plans. Why pick just one? As far as getting someone (white) to run against him, it appears to me that the answer to that is Renee Stringer. She has the knowlege of what it takes to run a town and has the courage to stand up to anyone that wants to be a patsy to the “mayor” . She has fought for the town, so she has name recognition. If something is not done soon, there will be no Town of Jonesboro.

      • Anonymous Says:

Why are you people giving the sheriff a pass on this issue? If the mayor is corrupt or guilty of a crime why dosent the cheif law enforcement officer in the parish not doing his job???????

  11. Anonymous Says:

What is wrong with having three or four of both races run against Thompson in the primary? The main object would be to keep him from getting 51% of the vote like he did last time, then whichever of the others got the most votes would run against him in a one-on-one general election. Seems to me you would have a better chance of getting a new mayor that way than just one opponent in the primary that some do not want, and then don’t even have a general election.

    • anonymous Says:

there will be more than one that runs, there will always be people that don’t want the candidate that is running so that is nothing new.

      • anonymous Says:

could that be why they didn’t vote in the last election for the candidate that ran.

  12. ashamed of Jonesboro Says:

The city government in jonesboro is shameful …The town is filthy …..The neighborhoods are filthy….Lake Providence use to be the poorest town in Louisiana…..Look at Jonesboro ….it looks worse……Natchitoches use to have so many empty stores closed on front street……Run down old houses…..But when a good city government took over and worked together…..look at it now. One of the most prosperous towns in Louisiana ….Get people in office that wants to do something to build Jonesboro into something
