Jackson Parish Sheriff Andy Brown will be meeting later this week with a group that is circulating a petition to try and convince Louisiana’s Fiscal Review Committee (FRC) to appoint a Fiscal Administrator to take charge of the Town of Jonesboro’s troubled finances.
The group, now calling itself Better Government for Jackson Parish, had met earlier this month to begin the process. The group intends to send the signed petitions to the FRC before their next meeting in Baton Rouge.
See here the petition.
The FRC – consisting of Louisiana Legislative Auditor Daryl G. Purpera, Louisiana, Louisiana Attorney General James Caldwell and Louisiana State Treasurer John Kennedy – had met last month and delayed a decision on appointment of an administrator for thirty days.
Organizers said the group will meet at Paw Paw’s Restaurant, 163 Dani Drive (just off Hwy 4 West – Danvile Hwy) at 6:00 P. M., Thursday, March 24. The group intends to meet monthly and discuss the issues and hear from all candidates from all parties for local elections.
According to the organizers, the people signing the petitions are residents of Jonesboro, Hodge, Quitman and Weston – that either live, spend money, work, or own property in Jonesboro.

Isn’t it a conflict of interest to show up at a meeting for one side of the conflict? Sure hate to see it look like he is taking sides. Investigation needs to be free of self interest.

If an invitation is extended, one has the opportunity to accept or decline. I guess if he was invited, he accepted. Did he get invited to the GREAT PARK RALLYS? I sorta doubt it since he was being BASHED AND MOCKED THERE!
But, fortunately, that debacle was the opinion of a handful of “soldiers” not the overall consensus of the black or white population of Jackson Parish.

He’s on the side of the law unlike the cause of all this conflict. Ask Jonathan Stewart about conflict of interest.

Thats my point exactly….no need to do what we see is going wrong twice…repeat the past and the future will never change

There is no comparison to that episode, an invitation being accepted as opposed to what was represented at the “GREAT PARK RALLYS” was as different as sugar and salt. But, it wouldn’t matter who or what or how, if you don’t do bow down and kiss up and say YES YES YES to certain people in this Parish, you will always be wrong, or accused of being a racist, bigot, etc etc etc. So, that being said, the Sheriff of this Parish has a right to move about freely and accept or decline any and all invitations on any given day. Here is a novel idea, why not call the office and ask him why he is attending, that will quash any questions about motive or issues one may have with his attendance.

How is the sheriff meeting with someone taking sides? Obama has met with people..does it mean he agrees with them or is taking their side?

Anyone can come to the meeting. Sheriff Brown is the only one, besides the three men filing suit, that have tried to help the town. All those that have turned a blind eye to our pleas for help will be held accountable and that includes the mayor’s supporters. They have made a clear choice to ignore the obvious wrongdoing at city hall. Alot of money has disappeared or has been moved around and we need to get to the bottom of this and get closure so our town can heal and prosper.
