OPSO Pushes Ankle Bracelets at Expense of Bail Bondsmen

As the Ouachita Parish Police Jury pushes a new tax for OCC up for vote, the sheriff’s office is promoting a new solution to stop the overcrowding problems at OCC.

Sheriff Royce Toney is increasing the use of ankle bracelets on pre-trial detainees and criminal offenders, but a local bail bondsman says the electronic monitoring program lacks adequate enforcement, and could be putting the public at risk.
