Today The (Monroe) News-Star has this story about two of the candidates in the race for Monroe City Judge, Division B.
DWI arrests noted in judge race
That two candidates running for the office have been cited for driving while intoxicated is certainly news.
But the real “news” is that The (Monroe) News-Star has done real, live investigative reporting for a change, instead of reprinting press releases from politicians and the chamber of commerce government.

good job news star…guess these guys thought no one would look at their record, or if they did, it wouldn’t matter…someone should ask judge amman or the DA if they think having two dui’s is a good characteristic for a judge to have

Probably the third guy paid the Newsstar to do the article.

karen, i bet all candidates were checked out after reading the article, and only two of them had dui’s…together, they average 1.5 dui’s per candidat! lots of folks have gotten dui’s, but they are not seeking the position of judge. would you like to sit in front of a judge with 2 dui’s and have him sentence you for yours?

Nope…I wouldn’t. But, it seems too coincidental that a newspaper that never reports anything solid suddenly reports on this. It seems to me the third guy either leaked the info so they wouldn’t have to do too much work or is friends with someone at the paper. I mean why suddenly do they report this. I totally agree with reporting these things and wish they would do more.
As for drinking judges…we have one here. The only reason he has never gotten a dui is the good old boy law enforcement won’t pull him over.

The article should read “BULLETIN! News-Star Gets tipped off by Burkett!”
Facts:
Heck has not been cited as the court date is not until October and this would not be listed in his record as he is not guilty yet.
Joyce’s record has been “wiped clean” after 10 years and this would no longer be in the record pulled.
It would of cost the New-Star $50 a report per person to run a record search in which I can guarantee the New-Star doesn’t run on every nomination.
Stacey Keibler was tipped off. Please do research yourself, you could make the New-Star look like idiots.
